Callum Smith Attitude website notes

Design and layout of the website notes

  • Categorised into sections (news, culture), gives readers and the audience a specific area to go to based on their interests and helps the website to meet the needs of multiple demographics of audiences and interests
  • When scrolling, it always keeps a next read at the top, to try and encourage readers to read more and other articles to keep them engaged with the website
  • Space at the bottom showing the different sections of Attitude, the legal side of the website, links to the websites social medias and options for subscription (which is also at the top - to try and encourage subscribers)
  • Trending news on the first screen - product placement to try and catch the eye of readers to find out what's currently going on to encourage them to read it as it is viewed as most popular,
  • Bold title with no caps lock, the link to very basic black and white colours for the writing and only using bold creates an identity for the website and makes it seem more formal and professional.
  • Lots of advertising space - how website makes it money, through companies paying to have their advert on the website
  • Very informative articles
Who is target audience
  • LGBTQ community - lots of content relate to gay/trans/sexuality information or news, with some celebrity interviews (Mel B). Also includes a lot of stories about the same thing and same content such as trans/lesbian which helps target that audience, however the type of stories in a more formal scenario and layout, gives the impression its for an older type of audience than teenager.
  • Dominantly woman aimed however has male content and imagery to try and aim to both genders. Includes both cultural and style references and features for both genders

Logo analyse
  • Very bold and simple. Doesn't stand out too well, apart from being in its own space, but is the same font as the words for the articles and stories. San-serif font which gives it a more formal vibe and makes all the information appear more factual and reliable. The lowercase at the start helps the magazine stand out and feel different to others, potentially trying to give the impression it is different to all the other magazine outlets in terms of content it produces. The bold and black signifies its professionalism and bold ideology from the title of attitude.
