Tide advert
In the tide advert the company have used this advert as a way of advertising their cleaning product in a way that will appeal to women and men for buying cleaning products for their wives to use whilst the men are out working. They have done this by including a large image of a women hugging and gazing dream-like towards a box of washing cleaner. The use of the imagine gives a meaning to the audience that women of the time period absolutely loves the product, which was a stereotype for the time period.
The layout shows 2 slogans at the top, one in bright red to get peoples attention to the headline and one in black right at the top, to show factual or a selling point to encourage people to buy the product being advertised. There are numerous diagrams or images around the page, all showing a repeated image of a women smiling which gives the impression that women enjoy cleaning which further points out the clear difference in times between the advert and current day. Alongside the main image on the left hand side of the page, on the right hand side there is a lot of writing to give more information about the product and selling points about the washing powder. This could be seen as very wordy and could put people off reading all of it.
The images shown on the advert are all hand drawn and create a cartoon like effect to display the product or information about the product. They are all distance shots drawn except the main picture which is a close up style of the women hugging the tide product.
The big red headline is in a large font in order to get the readers attention and the rest of the text on the advert is smaller in order to fit more information than. The typography is in san-serif
The mise en scene of the advert is a plain background with the colours of the product being very bright which makes it seem more appealing and stand out more. There is a common theme throught the advert of red and black to potentially suggests Tide's brand colours.
The slogan of 'Tide's got what women want' is a very clear message and presentation of the time period of the advert. This is because at the time it was understood that because of women's role in society, that they did not want much and anything they did want wasnt really known or understood. For this reason this slogan is an effective selling tool for men buying the washing product for their wives to use.
